Lea’s Place
Clothes Closet

The Clothes Closet Program began in 2002 and about 5% of volunteer time is spent on this activity. The Clothes Closet is located among the room provided by the Department of Children and Families. Our Clothes Closet ensures that every child (infants through teens) that Lea's Place cares for will have clean suitable clothing when they are placed into foster care.

Our volunteers sort, clean, launder (as necessary) and organize clothing, shoes and other items (suitcases, duffle bags, toiletries) donated to our Clothes Closet. Many of the children served at Lea's Place come with only the clothes they are wearing which is quite often filthy, ragged or ill-fitting. The adult in charge allows the child (if age appropriate) to personally choose a suitcase and clothing items that they like. The Clothes Closet is open 24 hours a day/7 days a week and is available to our On-Call Volunteers as well as the Protective Investigators.
