Lea’s Place On-Call Program

Since 1995, the On-call program has been operational for 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Approximately 60% of volunteer time is spent on this activity. Our volunteers assist the State's DCF Protective Investigators (PIs) by attending to the need of children who have been removed from their homes due to abuse, neglect or abandonment. Our volunteers provide all children— infants through teens— with individual attention by a caring adult to ease their transition into the foster care system. Prior to the On-Call Program, children were cared for by the PI who simultaneously, had to do their work.
